NZMS is one of over 150 organisations proud to be part of the National Digital Forum. Collectively we have striven for collaboration, interoperability and
mutual benefit, amongst ourselves, our communities and the world to share
knowledge and push the digital content space along at breakneck speed.
For me learning new things and simply getting new ideas in this arena is sufficient – but like many in this sector I get a real buzz out of helping others, and that’s where the NDF is unparalleled in GLAM-ville!
Except perhaps the contribution of the National Library, Archives New Zealand and Te
Papa who on modest budgets provide services to their communities beyond the
call of their funding. We can thank them a lot for this and NDF Conference is one
place you get to hear a lot of what they get up to.
Is this enough? – think about this year please... while you are there, or perhaps if you can only make it next year, what do we want next year? More collaboration? Undoubtedly. More of the same programme format? Possibly. New ideas – YES PLEASE, we’re always up for something new.
I’ve got my last year on the NDF Board having seen it navigate from 30+ person “Working
Ctte”, to the 12 person Board, to our new Incorporated Society. I’m keen
to promote to the Board popular new ideas that you suggest, also on behalf of the smaller institutions so numerous but often so under-resourced (except for enthusiasm and dedication!).
2011 is the TENTH Conference - very special! Is two days enough? Do you like the Digtal NZ Day and Bar Camp wrapped around it (NDF Week?). Let me know what YOU think...
all the best, Andy Fenton
