Our Microfilming Process
Receive Materials for filming
We record details of volumes received, from whom and the date received. Condition reports are generated.
Preparation and collation of material
Material is inspected page by page for print quality, date and numerical correction. Pages are sorted into correct order.
Camera Preparation
Biblio research and preparation is undertaken. Targets are approved in consultation with client and sorted into filiming material.
Filming onto 35mm Silver Halide Master Microfilm
Film processing
Camera master film is processed in our deep tank chemical processor.
Quality Control
A comprehensive frame-by-frame check is undertaken to ensure completeness of capture
Quality Assurance
Tests are performed to ensure the technical quality of the film resolution, density and contrast, and compliance to ISO Standards.
Boxing and Despatch
Once we are satisfied with the microfilm the reels are packaged and labelled for despatch and the original newspapers are stored wrapped in acid-free tissue inside archival boxes ready to be crated to long-term archival storage.
