UON University Gallery and Museum Selects Recollect

NZMS is delighted to announce that the University Gallery and Senta Taft-Hendry Museum at the University of Newcastle has selected Recollect for management of its contemporary art and cultural artefact collections. The Gallery presents curated exhibitions and touring shows that facilitate an awareness of contemporary art, artists, communities and disciplines. Building upon Recollect’s suite of digital asset and collection management tools, the University Gallery will utilise the Recollect platform to track, manage, and mitigate risk to the university art collection. By combining high resolution media capabilities with robust and flexible database tools, Recollect can be configured as one of the most customisable and user-friendly collection management systems on the market. The University Gallery joins UON Cultural Collections as our second Recollect implementation at the University of Newcastle. “Needing to move quickly from an archive database into a digital platform and needing very specific functions, we evaluated many available products worldwide to manage and share our unique art and artefact collections; Recollect allows for the management of both physical and digital assets.  Communication with the Recollect team was enormously helpful and has resulted in them providing us with enhanced description and location based services – streamlined tracking, management, multiple archive options and importantly for our users, discovery. We’re very excited to be moving to the platform that is tailored to meet our needs entirely and easily.”  Gillean Shaw, Art Curator of the University Gallery and Senta Taft-Hendry Museum
“We are very happy to welcome another department from the University of Newcastle to Recollect.  The University Gallery curates, protects, and exhibits an important collection of contemporary art and cultural artefacts which require special attention.  We are excited to see the University Gallery utilise and expand Recollect’s capability as a collection management system, as we extend our partnership with our good friends at the University of Newcastle.”  Gavin Mitchell, General Manager of Recollect / NZMS
