State Library South Australia Selects Recollect

State Library South Australia Selects Recollect NZMS is delighted to announce that the State Library of South Australia (SLSA) has selected Recollect as their on-line community engagement platform for selected heritage collections. SLSA has a long and proud tradition of connecting people with the knowledge they need about South Australia and the world.  That world is changing rapidly and new ways of doing things are needed to continue with that tradition and ensure every South Australian has the knowledge and skills to participate in a deeply integrated world.  SLSA hold numerous collections of heritage material from South Australia’s rich history and will use the Recollect platform to showcase and facilitate interaction with their oral histories, items from their Treasures Wall exhibition and the South Australians at War website. Among the criteria used in selecting a platform were cloud based technology, the ability to handle and view all file types up to very large sizes, strong metadata capabilities, and the ability to engage customers to contribute content through tagging, text correction and the creation of transcripts’ for digitised handwritten content.  Additionally, customers should be able to share content through social media and interfaces to other platforms. Andrew Piper, Manager, Online Services SLSA said “We selected Recollect because it meets our needs, is easy to use and we value the partnership approach that NZMS brings to the relationship.  We are excited to be starting the process of getting the platform configured and our content uploaded.” Andy Fenton, Managing Director, NZMS, said “We are very pleased to have the State Library of South Australia as our first State Library customer. Over the past two decades our two organisations have had shared expertise in many facets of preservation and access for heritage materials, most particularly through our contribution to International Standards in micrographics and digitisation.  To extend that rapport and collegiality to community engagement across heritage information and contemporary thinking is tremendously exciting.  We look forward to an enduring and innovative partnership.” Work is currently underway to configure Recollect and migrate selected SLSA digital collections to Recollect. Their site is expected to be live in early November 2016.   For more information contact:
